Pro2Serve - Community Involvement

Community Involvement

Pro2Serve actively promotes community involvement and provides financial support to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. Our strong commitment to the local community is reflected in our Corporate Bylaws that commit 10% of pre-tax profit to be set aside for charitable contributions. Equally important is the financial support, time, and effort that Pro2Serve employees give each year as volunteers. We promote and recognize the contributions of our employees through a matching gifts program. A few examples of how we enrich our local communities include:

  • Active support for Habitat for Humanity – our employees have participated in building beautiful homes for two families.
  • Continuing support to the United Way, including corporate matching of our employee contributions – Pro2serve was recognized as the largest corporate contributor to the Anderson County, Tennessee, United Way for the 2006-2007 campaign. United Way Certificate of Appreciation: Congratulations Pro2Serve Largest Corporate Donation award for the 2006-2007 United Way of Anderson County campaign
  • Strong support for educational initiatives – Pro2Serve made two significant contributions to the new Oak Ridge High School, teams with the University of Tennessee to sponsor the annual UT-Pro2Serve Math contest that recognizes the state’s brightest math students, and helped establish the Distinguished Professionals Education Institute that places career technical professionals in hard-to-fill public school classrooms.
  • Sponsorship of events celebrating community heritage, including the Secret City Festival and the Green McAdoo Cultural Center.

Another important facet of Pro2Serve’s corporate citizenship is our commitment to the economic development of the Knoxville/Oak Ridge Innovation Valley. We have provided leadership to the East Tennessee Economic Council, the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce, the Oak Ridge Economic Partnership, Technology 2020, the Tennessee Business Roundtable, and the Jobs Now! regional economic development initiative. Pro2Serve is a member of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership and East Tennessee Technology Council.

Pro2Serve was instrumental in working with the Department of Energy and the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee to develop plans for a new Science and Technology Park, to be located at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, that will serve as a catalyst for future economic growth. Pro2Serve’s Directors are investing $15 million in a new National Security Engineering Center that serves as the anchor tenant for the Park.
